About Rutledge Primary
School History
Rutledge Community School was first established in 1954. In 1969, several other small community schools consolidated and became a part of Rutledge Community School. As a result, Rutledge Community School became Rutledge Elementary School housing grades K-4 and grade 5-8 were relocated to become Rutledge Middle School. In 1984, grade 4 was moved to Rutledge Middle School, and in the fall of 1999, grade 3 followed. Rutledge Elementary then became a K-2 school. In 2008, when the new Grainger High School was opened, Rutledge Elementary School became Rutledge Primary as many grades were shifted throughout the county. As a result of the changes, Rutledge Primary School is now home to grades PreK-1.
